Congratulations to Natalie for being accepted as a CURO Summer Fellow. She presented her work at the Fellows Forum today, and did a wonderful job!
Getting close to our lab move!
Our new space in the Chemistry Building (new name TBD) is nearly finished . We will have an improved animal care room, dedicated microscopy space, access to a more updated cold room, and GREATLY improved student and trainee spaces. Importantly, we will be in closer proximity to our CBIO colleagues and other folks in life sciences, which I hope will improve community and open doors for collaboration. Our move date will be in early August and I’ll post more when we get settled in! Excited!
Worm Squad to SDB in Atlanta
We were grateful to have the opportunity to attend the 83rd annual Society for Developmental Biology meeting in Atlanta, GA this week. Rachel was on the local organizing committee, which was a fantastic learning experience. All 5 graduate students (Kendall, Macey, Skylar, Christina, and Taylor) and our 2 more experienced summer undergrads (Natalie and Pierce) traveled to learn lots and present their work. We appreciate all of the questions, feedback and support!
Taylor to GRC: Cell Biology of the Neuron!
Taylor is away at a Gordon Conference on Cell Biology of the Neuron. She presented her work as a poster and is also scouting out some potential post-doc options for her next steps. Have fun, Taylor!
McKnight Symposium
Rachel traveled to Aspen for the annual McKnight Symposium. It was wonderful to hear about lots of new science and technology and to bring that back to the lab. The Symposium is hosted by the McKnight Foundation to celebrate McKnight Scholars past and present. It was also an opportunity for us to meet the new cohort of Pecot and Doupe Fellows, who are undergraduate and post-doctoral researchers conducting their work in McKnight-funded labs.
The McKnight community is outstanding and I feel so grateful to be a part of it!
